A Daring Sacrifice by Judy Hedlund As a mother of four I very rarely run across a book that is so good I can read…
What a sweet story! I’ve loved country music since I was a little girl (at least until recently) and this book struck a cord with me. Trevor, the struggling singer puts aside his career and comes to town to help the family of his recently killed drummer. Aww, what a sweetheart! But Trevor is struggling with his new faith and his reasons for coming to their small town.
This book is so well written I have to give it 4 stars. The story is sweet and interesting and kept my attention. Zane and Lila have been best friends throughout their childhood and adolescence, but when her Amish family expect her to marry within their faith, Zane responds to the uncertainty by joining the army. The story is full of honest emotion and vivid details of both Amish and Army life. I felt like I was really there with them.
Sometimes a calling is not all you need to be a missionary. Priscilla White received the call, and thinks she knows exactly where to go. Unfortunately the mission board stands in her way. The only way she can go and teach others about God is to be married. In the same boat is Eli, a doctor who wants to setup a mission and clinic among the Nez Perce. His big plans and fund raising are brought to an abrupt halt by this ruling.

Book 3 in the Timber Ridge Reflection series is excellent! This book is full of colorful, deep characters and meaningful plots that work together beautifully to form a warm, interesting story that is worth reading again and again. Rachel is a widow with a bit of a chip on her shoulder. Rand is a skilled doctor with a deep secret fear. As the story develops both characters are forced to deal with their problems and their growing love.
I’ve always said that you can’t really go wrong with a story when the characters start out broken (in someway or another) because we need to read on and know that the characters find healing.
